This page describes a tier-3 novelty Psi-Tech concept. The base hardware is real and inexpensive; the operationally-relevant claim is SPECULATIVE — framework-permitted, not yet evidence-supported. The Mk0 form is honestly carried as brand-and-ritual; any further claim depends on the relevant validation gate.
The Psi Pen is a stylus-form-factor handheld instrument that combines a writing implement, a sigil-tracing tip, and a small sensor package, used by operators for the Psi-Tech practice of traced-sigil intent — drawing a sigil at a chosen location with documented intent and capturing the local field response for the duration of the trace. Engineering-honestly, a pen with an IMU + magnetometer + electrostatic probe and a small recorder; doctrinally, a tool for the Tho'ra-doctrinal practice of marking intent at a place.

Overview
A Pen session:
- Operator declares intent and chooses a sigil (SynastryEngine supplies an astrologically-derived sigil-of-the-moment).
- Operator traces the sigil at the chosen location (in air or on a surface).
- The Pen records the trace (IMU + position estimate) + local field state during trace + after-trace baseline window.
- The session is signed and ingested into the Psi Recorder cohort.
The practice is operator-driven; the Pen is the recorder.

The practice of traced-sigil intent has documentable operator-state effects (HRV, EEG-coherence) measurable via Psi Recorder paired sessions. Falsifiable.

Traced sigils with documented intent produce local Psi Field effects detectable in the Pen's environmental channel during and after the trace. This is the Tho'ra-doctrinal claim and the defining novelty.
Subsystems and BOM

A high-quality fountain pen + paper notebook + intentional practice. Honestly limited; no sensors.
Mk1 (target ≤ \$120)
- Pen-form 3D-printed shell — \$10
- nRF52840 module — \$15
- ICM-20948 9-DOF IMU — \$15
- HMC5883L compact magnetometer — \$8
- Electrostatic probe (cap-sensing tip) — \$3
- 100 mAh LiPo + charger — \$8
- OLED status pip — \$5
- Sigil-tip cartridge (multiple per pen) — \$5
- USB-C charge + sync — \$5
- Enclosure + bezel — \$20
- Bone-conduction click — optional
Battery life target: ≥ 1-hour active recording per charge.
Mk2 / Mk3
Mk2: integrated with HelmKit Mk1 + Focus Lens for trace visualization. Mk3: Resonant Pipeline direct ingest with provenance preserved.
Build Notes
- Sensor-first form factor. The Pen is sized to fit reasonably in a hand; comfort-of-grip beats sensor placement.
- Trace reconstruction. IMU + magnetometer sensor-fusion gives trace position to ~cm accuracy over a typical sigil; documented in metadata.
- Battery economy. Aggressive sleep between sessions; ≥ 30 days standby.
- Cartridge changeable. Multiple tip cartridges (ink, dry-erase, electrostatic-only) — operator selects per session.
Safety and Ethics
- No emitter; sensor + recorder only.
- Personal-data: traces and intent annotations are operator-private; consent required for Resonant Pipeline ingest.
- No public-space tracing without site permission (where physical inscription occurs).
- No extraordinary claims; the Pen is honestly a recorder for an intentional-practice modality.

Failure Modes and Mitigations
- Trace reconstruction noisy. → Documented error; only sessions above quality threshold used in analysis.
- Operator over-claim. → Doctrine: practice + recorder + honest framing; no extraordinary claim without evidence.
- Battery exhaustion mid-trace. → Low-battery warning; partial trace flagged.
- Public-space friction. → Site permission documented; private-property tracing default.
- Calibration drift. → Periodic recalibration; per-session baseline.
- Trace data leak. → Local-first; export by operator action.
