Old Magic
Old Magic refers to the ancient magical traditions of the Natura universe — the original practices that existed before the rise of technological civilization. Old Magic is raw, intuitive, and deeply connected to the natural fabric of reality.
Overview
Old Magic is what magic looked like before anyone tried to understand it. On worlds like Canorbius, Old Magic never went away — it remains the default mode of existence, as natural as breathing. On Earth, Old Magic was the original human relationship with Universal Language, lost over millennia of suppression by the Nefarium and their Death Cults.

Practices
Ley Line Communion
Main article: Ley Line Old Magic practitioners tap directly into ley lines — natural energy channels that flow through the planet's meaning-structure. At ley line intersections (nexus points), Old Magic is orders of magnitude more powerful.
Elemental Attunement
Rather than commanding elements through formulas, Old Magic practitioners become attuned to elemental forces — feeling Fire's hunger, Water's patience, Air's restlessness, Earth's stubbornness as lived experience.
Old Magic practitioners can sense and navigate Warp Zones — the natural interdimensional fields connecting space, time, realities, and destinies. Tarr'i's arrival from Canorbius through a Warp Zone is a classic Old Magic event.
Words of Power (Primal Form)
Main article: Words of Power Before Universal Language was formalized, the Words of Power were spoken intuitively — sounds whose vibrational patterns happened to match UL expressions. Ancient chants, mantras, and incantations are degraded remnants of Old Magic wordcasting.
Old Magic on Canorbius
Main article: Canorbius On Canorbius, Old Magic never became "old" — it is simply magic. Every inhabitant of Canorbius wields natural elementals as a birthright. The distinction between Old and New Magic is an Earth distinction, born from Earth's unnatural separation from its magical heritage.
Tarr'i embodies the Old Magic tradition — her Natura Magic is instinctive, holistic, and enormously powerful, but she lacks the formal understanding that Arkana Magic provides.
The Suppression
On Earth, Old Magic was systematically suppressed through a multi-thousand-year campaign by the Cabal/Nefarium:
- Ancient magical knowledge was fragmented and hidden
- Practitioners were persecuted, discredited, or co-opted
- Ley line nexus points were built over, diverted, or corrupted
- The population was severed from its natural cosmic alignment
- The Cosmic Cypher (produced by Jono Tho'ra) works to reverse this suppression
