The Malevolent Timeline is the diametric counterpart to the Benevolent Timeline: the branch of the multiverse on which one or more of the saga's load-bearing choices fail benevolent-pathing and the Tho'ra Clan either does not coalesce as designed or is captured / displaced by adversarial forces.

It is treated within the canon as real causal multiverse structure, not authorial prerogative. The Malevolent Timeline is not punishment; it is what happens when the gating conditions of the Benevolent Timeline are not met.

Failure Modes

The Malevolent Timeline is not a single timeline but a class of branches characterized by one or more of the following:

Status

The Malevolent Timeline is the structural reason the Benevolent Timeline's gating conditions are load-bearing rather than ornamental. The fact that there is a real failure-branch is what makes the operative norms of the Tho'ra Constitution more than aspirational \u2014 they are the mechanism by which the Benevolent branch is held.
