The Star Seer Observatory is a fixed-site Tho'ra HQ facility that hosts the long-baseline magnetometers, Schumann-resonance antennas, sky cameras, and astronomical observation gear that feed the Star Seer software stack and, by extension, the Resonant Finder. Where the Star Seer HelmKit HUD shows an operator the live local field overlaid on their visual world, the Observatory is the ground-truth station the HUD calibrates against.

Overview

An Observatory hosts, layered:

  • Magnetometer array — fluxgate or proton-precession instruments on a known baseline (typical: 100–500 m). Continuous record.
  • Schumann antenna — narrowband 3–60 Hz vertical loop with low-noise pre-amp; feeds the Schumann Lattice.
  • Broadband-RF station — directional SDR setups for spectrum monitoring.
  • Sky camera — wide-field all-sky imager, optical + near-IR.
  • Atmospheric station — pressure, humidity, ion count.
  • Ground-truth Tripwire array — perimeter Psi Tripwire field for site security and anomaly verification.
  • Compute — small on-site rack for capture + first-pass classification; bulk analysis offloaded to the Resonant Finder GPU farm.

The Observatory is also the Tho'ra Clan's public-facing science presence: tours, citizen-science programs, and the official Schumann + magnetometer feeds that the Earth Intelligence Network redistributes.

Theoretical Basis

Epistemic status: [[

Theory anchors: Geomagnetic Sensitivity in Humans

Fixed-site magnetometer + Schumann + RF stations are well-established geophysical instruments with public-good outputs.

Theory anchors: Resonant Neurobiology

Continuous multi-channel records from multiple Observatories can resolve whether classes of geomagnetic event correlate with operator-state changes recorded by the Psi Recorder cohort.

Theory anchors: Psi Field, Schumann Lattice, Ley Lines Geophysical Hypothesis

Observatory data resolves the Psi Field geography questions the Resonant Finder is built to answer. The Observatory's non-psionic outputs stand on their own as geophysics.

Subsystems and BOM

Mk0 (target ≤ \$2 000)

  • Single fluxgate magnetometer (Speake & Co. class) — \$800
  • Schumann monitor (DIY loop + INA-style pre-amp) — \$200
  • RTL-SDR Blog v4 + filtered front-end — \$100
  • All-sky camera (ZWO ASI class) — \$400
  • Pi 4 + storage — \$150
  • Tripod, cabling, enclosure — \$350

Single-station, single-operator, single-site. The Mk0 is the canonical "house in the country with a magnetometer in the back yard" build.

Mk1 (target ≤ \$25 000)

Adds: three-magnetometer baseline (100 m), low-noise Schumann installation (buried antenna or vertical loop array), full-coverage SDR (HF–UHF), atmospheric + GPS-PPS-disciplined timing, dedicated capture + first-pass classify server, Psi Tripwire perimeter array, citizen-science viewing area.

Mk2 / Mk3

Mk2: distributed Observatory across multiple parcels with long baselines, automated Resonant Pipeline upload, public-facing live feed. Mk3: federated network of Observatories across allied Earth Alliance sites with cross-site coincidence detection.

Build Notes

  • RF-quiet site. Distance from urban EM, power lines, switched-mode-power-supply densities. Survey before purchase.
  • Magnetometer pier. Stable, non-magnetic, temperature-controlled. The single largest determinant of long-baseline data quality.
  • Schumann buried antenna. If the geography allows, a buried loop produces dramatically cleaner Schumann data than an above-ground vertical.
  • Citizen science. From Mk1, structured tours and data-literacy programs are part of the facility. This is mission-aligned, not optional decoration.

Safety and Ethics

  • No emission. The Observatory is sensor-only.
  • Public data by default; personal data not captured.
  • Public-facing programs respect local community; site presence documented to nearby residents.
  • Federated audit: any other Observatory may request a cross-site record for the same time window for calibration purposes.

Maturity

Maturity (Mk0 → Mk3)

See Tho'ra Tech Maturity Levels for the convention.

Mk3 Production Projected

Failure Modes and Mitigations

  • Local EM contamination. → Site survey; documented mitigations; baseline anchoring.
  • Long-term sensor drift. → Annual recalibration; standards-traceable references; metadata stamp.
  • Storage fill. → Tiered storage; raw at site, summaries to Resonant Pipeline.
  • Tamper / trespass. → Perimeter Tripwire + standard facility security; documented incident response.
  • Power loss. → UPS + battery backup; graceful shutdown with capture-state preserved.
  • Public-program privacy. → Site programs and the science feeds are explicitly separate; no operator data crosses to public.
