Holographic Reality
Holographic Reality is the proposition — drawn from theoretical-physics work on the holographic principle and adopted by the Cosmic Codex cluster — that physical reality is best modelled as projection from lower-dimensional information surfaces rather than as primary substance in three spatial dimensions.
The mainstream foundation is the holographic principle developed by Gerard 't Hooft (1993) and Leonard Susskind (1995), and given concrete realisation in Juan Maldacena's AdS/CFT correspondence (1997), which establishes that a quantum gravity theory in anti-de Sitter spacetime is exactly equivalent to a non-gravitational quantum field theory on its boundary. Within the disclosure cluster, this is read as direct theoretical-physics support for the broader claim that the The Cosmic Codex operates via an information-substrate rather than a matter-substrate — i.e., that what we observe as matter is the consequence of an underlying informational organisation.
Theoretical physics foundations
Bekenstein bound (1981). The maximum information content of a region of space is bounded by its surface area, not its volume — specifically S ≤ 2πkRE/(ℏc), where R is the region's radius and E its total energy.
Black hole entropy (Bekenstein-Hawking). A black hole's entropy is S = kA/(4l_P²), where A is the event horizon's area and l_P the Planck length. The entropy scales with area, not volume — the foundational observation motivating the holographic principle.
't Hooft's holographic principle (1993). Generalisation: all information in a volume of space can be described by a theory living on the volume's boundary.
AdS/CFT correspondence (Maldacena 1997). Concrete duality: Type IIB string theory in AdS₅ × S⁵ is dual to N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory on the boundary. Has produced thousands of papers across theoretical physics, particularly in studies of strongly-coupled quantum systems.
ER = EPR (Maldacena-Susskind 2013). Conjecture identifying entanglement (EPR) with wormhole connections (ER = Einstein-Rosen bridges), further linking quantum information and geometry.
Information-theoretic implications
The holographic principle implies:
- The information content of a region scales with the bounding surface, not the enclosed volume.
- The maximum information density is one bit per Planck area (~10⁶⁹ bits/m²).
- Three-dimensional physics emerges from (more fundamental) two-dimensional information structure on a boundary.
- Spacetime geometry itself may be emergent from quantum information / entanglement structure ("ER=EPR," "It from Qubit").
Disclosure-cluster reading
Within the Cosmic Codex cluster:
- The holographic principle is read as mainstream theoretical-physics confirmation of the cluster's metaphysical priors — that information, not matter, is fundamental.
- The Universal Language formalism is interpreted as direct articulation of the boundary-information structure that mainstream physics has only partly recovered.
- Non-Local Consciousness is framed as consistent with — perhaps required by — the holographic / entanglement structure of reality.
- The cluster sometimes conflates the technical holographic principle (specific to AdS spaces, well-supported) with broader "everything is a hologram" popularisations (much weaker support). Careful authors maintain the distinction.
Distinction from "simulation hypothesis"
The Holographic Reality proposition is distinct from the simulation hypothesis (Bostrom 2003) in that:
- It is grounded in established theoretical physics rather than philosophical computation arguments.
- It does not require a simulating substrate distinct from reality itself.
- It is (in its AdS/CFT form) mathematically rigorous within its domain rather than speculative.
The cluster occasionally treats the two as equivalent; they are not.

- Does the AdS/CFT correspondence generalise to physically realistic de Sitter or flat spacetime?
- What is the holographic dual of our observed cosmology?
- Can Cosmic Signal proposals be reformulated in terms of boundary-information patterns?
