Esus
Esus is the figure, doctrine, and force that the Viran Empire imprinted into the very fabric of the universe — a cosmic-scale religious construct whose name intentionally echoes Jesus.
Overview
Esus functions simultaneously as:
- A Figure — a messianic entity the Viran worship as a super-cosmic Jesus
- A Doctrine — the ideological framework justifying the Viran Empire's supremacy
- A Force — a literal imprint in the structure of reality itself, analogous to how the Eldar of Warhammer 40,000 manifested Slaanesh (the Chaos God) through their collective psychic excess
The parallel is deliberate and horrifying: just as the Eldar's obsession birthed a god of destruction, the Viran's absolute conviction in Esus created structural weaknesses in the universal fabric through which the Draken Seforthi enter and feed.
The Cover-Up
The Viran Empire leadership knows they have catastrophically failed.
They know that their imprinting of Esus caused the void incursions. They know their doctrine is the root cause of the Draken Seforthi crisis. And they have been lying about it to maintain control of the Viran Empire.
This cover-up has been sustained through:
- Eons of enforced belief — anyone who doesn't believe is killed
- Literal timeline rewriting — modifying timelines to erase evidence of their error
- Reality and destiny manipulation across local galactic superclusters (around the local super void)
The Viran are SO convinced that their way is the only right way — through eons of killing dissenters and rewriting history — that they cannot conceive of being wrong. This makes them not just villains but cosmic-scale narcissists whose pride has doomed universes.
The Implication
The fact that nothing has been done about the Viran for so long implies something even more disturbing: something worse may be occurring beyond just our universal cluster. The super-cosmic immune system (the Tho'ra) should have addressed this sooner. That they haven't suggests a threat at a scale that even the Tho'ra's mechanisms haven't been able to handle.
The Name
The name "Esus" intentionally echoes "Jesus" — a deliberate design choice that comments on how religious imperialism, when taken to its absolute extreme, doesn't save the universe but breaks it. The Viran didn't create a savior; they created a structural wound in reality.
The Tho'ra Response
Main article: Star Speeder Mk3 In Terra Novus, Amber Tho'ra publicly condemns Esus as a universally-domestic threat to all free lifeforms during a massive PsiNet broadcast. She uses mastery of Universal Language to issue legal modifications to the universe — finally prosecuting the Viran for their semi-illegal multiversal behavior.
