The Tho'ra Tech Maturity Levels are the four-stage convention used by the Tho'ra Clan to track every piece of mission hardware and software from concept through fielded production. The convention applies to all Psi-Tech, HelmKit components, Star Seer / StarCom / NavCom systems, Resonant Finder infrastructure, the Magneto Speeder platform, and experimental Exocraft.

The Four Marks

Mark Phase Description Typical Era
Mk0 Cosplay-type Appearance-level mock-up. Form-factor exploration, narrative alignment, public-facing demonstration. No functional internals. The Clan currently operates at Mk0 for nearly all gear. Pre-Terra Novus / Solar Cycle 24 tail (–2025)
Mk1 Prototype Functional proof of concept. Bench-validated. Limited bench-to-field bridging. Subsystem integration in progress. The current frontier of Clan R&D as of 2026. Early–mid Solar Cycle 25 (2026–2031)
Mk2 Test-type Field-trial hardware. Survives operational deployment for limited durations under controlled conditions. Telemetry-instrumented; failure modes documented. Used by senior Tho'ra operators only. Late Solar Cycle 25 / early Solar Cycle 26 (2030–2033)
Mk3 Production-type Fully fielded, manufacturable, ruggedized. Adopted by Earth Alliance auxiliaries. Replicated in Magneto Speeder production line and equivalent shops. The mission goes operational at scale at Mk3. Solar Cycle 26+ (2032/2033 onward, Terra Novus)

Why a Four-Stage Ladder

The Clan operates as a small, mostly-covert R&D-and-rescue cell with limited capital. Most of its public expression is necessarily symbolic. The Mk0 → Mk3 ladder formalizes that the cosplay-grade version is a real first step (it builds the narrative, the brand, and the design constraints), the prototype-grade version is the present engineering reality, and the test/production grades are the funded-and-staffed future state. Every gear page on the wiki names which Mark currently exists.

Cross-Project Conventions

  • Mk0 may include 3D-printed shells, foam armor, off-the-shelf headsets dressed up for events, or fully-rendered CGI demos.
  • Mk1 must run on real silicon and produce a measurable physical signal, even if only on the bench. Safety architecture (see HelmKit Architecture) is required from Mk1 onward.
  • Mk2 requires a written test plan, a field-deployment log, and an after-action review for each unit shipped.
  • Mk3 requires regulatory review (RF / EMC where applicable), a service manual, and a replacement-parts inventory.

Mission Implication

The mission goes live the moment the Resonant Finder reaches Mk2 and the core Psi-Tech triad (Stabilizer / Harmonizer / Defender) clears Mk1. Until then, the Clan operates in pre-mission posture: brand-building, doctrine-refinement, allied outreach, and continuous R&D.
