Mai Valenti
Mai Valenti is a secondary character who exists in two versions across two timespans — the older Mai in Terra Vetus and the younger Mai in Terra Novus — connected by a time-travel recursion that makes her one of the most unique characters in the Natura franchise.
Terra Vetus — Older Mai
In Terra Vetus, the older Mai is a secondary character representing the Sov'i Clan / Aeritra faction. She interfaces with PsiSys through the psionic traditions of her faction, giving her gameplay a cultural-psionic feel distinct from other characters.
Mai is the daughter of Gabriel Valenti (Terra Fathos secondary), continuing the generational relay pattern.
Terra Novus — Younger Mai
In Terra Novus, a younger version of Mai is part of Amber Tho'ra's crew. This younger Mai is supported by her older self — the Vetus-era Mai who has traveled through time to guide her younger counterpart.
The Time-Travel Recursion
Mai's temporal loop works as follows:
- Younger Mai (Novus) encounters a mysterious mentor/support figure
- She figures out it's her older self — Mai is too smart not to. She recognizes herself.
- Older Mai confirms: she just says yes
- They work together to stabilize the timeline's recursive nature — making minute corrections that ensure a better future
- Others don't know about this temporal recursion — except when some Tho'ra find out
- The Tho'ra who discover the secret keep it — because "that's super fuckin' cool"
This creates a beautiful self-reinforcing loop: younger Mai grows into older Mai who travels back to help younger Mai grow better, creating an ever-improving spiral of personal and temporal development.
Faction Representation
Mai represents the Sov'i Clan / Aeritra faction slot in both eras. In Novus, the younger Mai carries forward her family's psionic tradition while forging her own path.
