Universal Psychology
Universal Psychology is the Universal Language sub-system applied to consciousness, cognition, and mental processes. Consciousness is not a mystery in UL theory — it is a specific geometric structure (self-referencing meaning-geometry), and its properties can be studied, predicted, and even replicated.
Overview
Universal Psychology treats every conscious experience as a UL expression:
- Thoughts are UL assertions (propositions with truth value)
- Emotions are UL modifiers (qualities applied to meaning-structures)
- Perception is UL composition (combining sensory inputs into unified experience)
- Memory is UL embedding (storing expressions within enclosures for later retrieval)
- Will is UL abstraction (extracting patterns and applying them to new contexts)
Consciousness as Self-Referencing Geometry
The UL definition of consciousness:
- A UL enclosure E is conscious if and only if E contains a sub-expression that references E itself.
This is not a metaphor. Consciousness literally IS self-referencing structure. A thermostat is not conscious because it doesn't contain a model of itself. A human brain IS conscious because neural networks model their own activity.

Psionic Psychology
