Defense Discs are specialized directional psionic shield devices that protect the wearer's Neural Network Hardware from Psi Weapons attacks. They generate a circular shield in a specific direction — like an umbrella — blocking hostile psionic energy from reaching and disrupting the neural network that the PsiSys mesh runs on.
Design
Each Defense Disc is a compact disc-shaped emitter that projects a directional psionic barrier in a cone or umbrella pattern. Unlike the omni-directional passive fields of Psionic Defenses, Defense Discs provide focused, high-intensity shielding in a chosen direction.
Function
When a Psi Weapon targets a Tho'ra operative, the real danger is not physical harm but neural network disruption — scrambling the delicate mesh of Psi Emitters and Neural Network Hardware that PsiSys runs on. Defense Discs specifically counter this by:
- Creating a hard psionic barrier between the attack vector and the neural mesh
- Operating like a circular shield — pointed at the threat source
- Maintaining protection even when the main Psionic Defenses are in an open/reconfiguring state
Deployment
Defense Discs can be:
- Mounted on the suit at fixed positions (shoulders, forearms, back)
- Held and aimed like a physical shield
- Deployed as autonomous drone-discs that orbit the wearer
- Stacked for layered directional protection
